Get face to face with one of Greenland's big mammals - the musk ox. Join on this ultimate wildlife experience and get close to musk oxen while kayaking on a big lake.

Camp Musk Ox Lake offers a true wilderness experience, you will be hiking, kayaking, and camping far away from the civilisation, in this place that can only be reached by foot.

During the two days of the camp we will be paddling and look out for opportunities to get close to the musk ox. The musk oxen often do not see the kayaker as a threat and we might get as close as 10 meters from the animals without them fleeing. A thrill of a lifetime!

This area is the territory of the musk ox and people rarely visit. Here the wildlife has perfect conditions with dry South facing slopes, a windy highland plateau for hot days and wet fertile meadows in close vicinity.

In order to make the most of the trip we also go ashore from the lake, to hike to hilltops, so we truly can see the greatness of the country - from there you will be able to see the vast Ice Cap, mountains, valleys, rivers, and wildlife nearby the river delta.

We try our hardest to protect our beautiful environment, therefore we always eat as locally as possible. The meals of the trip will therefore in a great extent be based on locally hunted meat from musk ox, caribou, snow hare, and maybe fish - that we usually supply with whatever wild herbs or mushrooms we can harvest in the nature.

Wake up in your tent, after a good nights sleep in the wilderness. Today there are new adventures awaiting.

The camp is located by a lake, which is one of the favourite places for the musk ox to hang out. Today we will try to get close to these big, fascinating mammals, as we paddle in kayaks on the lake. You can see the musk ox eat from the vegetation around the lake or maybe come down to the lake to drink.

In a bay of the lake we will go ashore for a short hike to a view point, from where you will get an great view of the landscape.

Todays activity will include 12-20 km. of kayaking, 4 km. hiking - which is 2-5 hours active kayaking and 1-2 hours active hiking.

On this hike you will be able to get a view of one of Greenland's true natural wonders - the huge Ice Cap. At the viewpoint you will not only see the vast white sheet of ice, but also rivers, valleys, and Kiinnarissut mountains.

After the hike we will paddle back across the lake, but still on the lookout for musk oxen.

Todays activity will include 12 km. of kayaking and 6 km. hiking - which is 2-3 hours active kayaking and 2-3 hours active hiking.

Today is the last day of our wildlife adventure here in musk ox land, hopefully we have had chances of getting really close to the great creature.

We will enjoy the morning in the idyllic surroundings and pack our personal belongings before heading back to civilisation. We take our time on the hike back to enjoy the landscape and to look at some meat caches and other remains from the Inuit culture, which had their hunting grounds in the same areas we pass through.

We will reach a dirt road and from there we will go by car the rest of the way to Kangerlussuaq.

Todays activity includes 13 km. hiking, about 3-5 hours.
