2 Days In Kulusuk | East Greenland
Only a two-hour flight from Reykjavik will take you to Greenland's beautiful east coast, home of the Ammassalik Inuit. Kulusuk is the gateway to East Greenland and the small settlement is an excellent introduction to the way of life in a settlement in the Ammassalik area.
Kulusuk lies on a small rocky island between saw-toothed mountains and extensive fjords, and it is almost always surrounded by icebergs and a glittering Arctic ocean. In Kulusuk you will find some of the east coast's most skillful craftsmen, whose tupilaks are of exceptional quality. Traditional hunting and fishing are still essential sources of income for many families in the settlement.

A very beautiful sight before landing at Kulusuk Airport. Upon arrival you will be driven down to Hotel Kulusuk where you will be spending the night.
Go to the reception and ask for optional tours for the day, which most likely could be a boat trip to the Apusiajik glacier only a few km from the village. If you stay there for a while you might be so lucky to witness the glacier calve. When back in town, take a walk down to the village approximately 6 km back and forth. Get a glimpse of life in an arctic village, and see the small church of Kulusuk. Also recommended is to see the local handicrafts made by the very creative locals. Tupilaks, jewelry and carved soapstone. Remember if you might purchase an item or two, to have danish currency on you.
Ask if you can be driven up to DYE 4 base was an old US Radar Station, closed in 1991 and is now used as a tourist attraction due to the mesmerizing view from the mountain top.
Eat dinner in the hotel restaurant and maybe get a cold greenlandic beer along with the meal.
