Whilst we’re heading north of the Arctic Circle, there are good chances of seeing several types of migrating seabirds as well as whales, and as the evening approaches, the first icebergs will become visible.

Day 3 - Glacier fronts and Inuit ruins

Scoresby Sund & Northern Lights | Cruise on m/v Hondius

Today we will reach East Greenland and start sailing directly along Volquart Boons coastline, which, with its many glaciers, offers great opportunities to explore closer by zodiacs. We will also see some spectacular basaltic columns and ice formations of the Viking Bay. In the afternoon we will reach Denmark Island where there are clear remnants from an Inuit settlement which was abandoned around 200 years ago.

Day 4 - Red, Blue and White

Scoresby Sund & Northern Lights | Cruise on m/v Hondius

Today we want you to go on a zodiac near the Red Island, as this place has some breathtaking icebergs in crystal clear blues and towering white giants. In the afternoon we sail through the northern parts of the Red fjord where Musk oxen roam through the autumn colored foliage.

Day 5 - Enormous Icebergs

Scoresby Sund & Northern Lights | Cruise on m/v Hondius

This morning we will reach a place with immense icebergs, some towering a 100 meters above sea level and stretching more than a kilometer in length, these icebergs are often grounded as the depth of the fjord is only around 400 meters. We will later on land near Sydkap, a place well known for its population of the beautifully white Arctic Hares.

Day 6 - Ittoqqortoormiit Inuit Village

Scoresby Sund & Northern Lights | Cruise on m/v Hondius

Today we will stop by Liverpool Land to explore the tundra in the hopes of more wildlife such as Polar foxes and muskoxen with the backdrop of beautiful mountains. In the afternoon we land at Ittoqqortoormiit, an Inuit village with approx. 500 inhabitants, the colourful houses are a sight on their own and walking around with the howling of sleddogs feels like travelling back in time.

Day 7 - Narwhals and Polar bears

Scoresby Sund & Northern Lights | Cruise on m/v Hondius

Today we have the best chances of spotting flocks of narwhals or wandering Polar bears, this nearly ice-free fjord gives us great opportunities to go far in-land.
