Overnight snowshoe adventure | Nuuk
Looking for an overnight snowshoeing adventure in the backcountry around Nuuk? Camp in comfort in a heated tipi and experience the solitude and tranquility of the mountains on this 2-day hike near the capital.
Your experienced wilderness guide will be waiting for you at the International Airport (the departure point for the trip) with all the extra gear required for the excursion. After helping you attach your snowshoes, some basic instruction on snowshoeing techniques, and a description of the route, you will then head out into the wilderness.
It won’t take long to leave the noise of the city behind, allowing you to enjoy the snowy vistas, the fresh air and the thrill of moving under your own power through incredible landscapes. Your guide will set a pace that is appropriate to the experience of all the participants and there will be plenty of time to stop and take photos.
Upon arriving at the campsite, you will settle into the tipi-tent and your guide will prepare a soup with the catch of the day. There may even be a story about how they caught the key ingredient that they are adding to the meal!
Once dinner is over, crawl into your sleeping bag for stories of local myths and legends and mountain adventures. And, if you are lucky, you may even witness the Northern Lights from one of the best locations possible!
The next morning you will wake up to coffee and breakfast - everything you need to give you energy for the trek back to Nuuk.
If you have chosen the optional hike to the top of Kangilia, it is a 4 hour round-trip from the campsite to the 760m summit. It is well worth the extra effort though for some of the most impressive views over the fjord and the sea towards Canada.
Sign up for this snowshoeing adventure to remember by selecting your preferred date to reserve your place now.
