Join in and learn how to build an igloo with the help of a local guide and find your inner child whilst playing in the snow. Learn the technique of how to make cubes out of the compact snow and stable each one on top of the other. You will be taught how by only using snow to keep the formation together, without it falling apart. By ingenuity and creativeness to use the limited resources around, the igloo was born. The Greenlandic word 'Iglu' means house and was generally founded by the Thule people further up north. By building the igloo and well isolating the interior, the heat stays within. By the use of a lantern made by melted seal fat both provided light and heat and caused the interior walls to slightly melt and refreeze. This strengthened the overall structure, which the ancestors of long ago realized and today is a testament to early human innovation.
