Information about Katuaq| Cultural Venue

The culture house bringing all of Greenland and the north together, is named  drumstick and in its mother tongue Katuaq. It is a must to visit, when in Nuuk. Greenlandic culture is found in the walls, in the food and in the halls of the mesmerizing house.  With a vision of exposing, evolving and mediating Greenlandic culture, functions Katuaq as the center of Greenlandic culture, bringing the north, west, south and east together since 1997.

Architecture 


Inspired by the northern light stands Katuaq proudly in the center of
multicultural Nuuk, with its wavy tree panels, resembling a church organ or an
ice azure. The interior is inspired by the interaction between the Aurora
Borealis and the powder white snow.

 

Cafetuaq & Conferences


Serving a combination of European inspired dishes with local commodities to an all Greenlandic dish, is to be found at the urban and effortlessly cool café, Cafetuaq. In the weekend Cafetuaq offers a big brunch buffet that is loved by the locals - lasting from morning to afternoon. Brunch, dine or enjoy a hot cup of something good, while hiding from the arctic winds.

Katuaq holds a 5 star conference center. Due to its spacious and flexible halls, Katuaq exceeds to fulfill all wishes and needs of their guests. The highly professional staff, are ready to welcome visitors from all over the world, in the artistic and cultural halls of Katuaq! It is also possible to visit Greenland’s biggest cinema, playing newly released films from all over the world.

As Katuaq is the tribute to Greenlandic art, you will in summer season find the annual exhibition, reserved for Greenlandic artists.
