Qeqertarsuaq town

Qeqertarsuaq was established in 1773 by the whaler Svend Sandgreen. With 850 inhabitants the town is situated on the Disko Island. Before other towns on the coast where established, Qeqertarsuaq used to be the capital of north west Greenland.

In the area you will be able to see columnar basalt rocks, that lets us believe volcanoes used to exist. The grounds are unlike any other place, very fertile. Due to the fertility of the lands, it is the only place in Greenland to grow large amounts of Garden Angelica and other herbs.
