The trip was a great experience. The staff was very friendly and attentive. The boat was small for 10 people with little legroom for 7 hours as well as space for stranding outside to watch icecliff etc

Went on Sept 20, 2022, met the tour group at the tourist center and hopped into the tour van that drove us down to the boating docks.
The guide was a Greenlandic local and she spoke fluent English, Danish, and Greenlandic. Very amazing and very informative! The guide even brought the group some curry chicken sandwiches, hot cocoa, and coffee!
The boat ride was 2 hours long getting to Eqi glaciers, 2 hours viewing the Eqi glacier, and 2 hours going back so it was quiet a journey but you do see a lot of scenic spots as you go. There was some waterfalls, passed by settlements, see birds perching on the glaciers, and even got lucky enough to see 4 blue whales spouting from the water! Truly magical!
The boat is pretty strong too and is able to handle to get through the glaciers chunks floating in the water. It’s also a heated boat so when you do get cold outside, you can just come back in and enjoy your sandwich and hot drinks. The Captain of the boat was nice enough to get me some glacier ice from the water so I can cool down my hot cocoa haha. Very hospitable people 🙂
When you finally arrive to Eqi glaciers, we rest the boat in a safe distance where we can watch the glaciers calving, you can hear the rumbling noises echo throughout the area! We stay there and enjoyed the view and mingle with others. I was the only American on the boat along but all was friendly and spoke English to me.
After the tour is done, they drive us back to the tourist center in mid-town.
Most definitely recommend going on this tour!
Note: Guide to Greenland work with local tour operators so be aware your experience and schedule may differ and change depending on the weather and the amount of people visiting so make sure you’re open to the changes.
My schedule changed a couple of times, even a few days before the tour started, one day the weather was too rainy they had to cancel but they were able to refund me so please keep an open mind and a patient heart.

The 4 of us enjoyed the Eqi tour. My feedback and remarks are very much like Mr. Borge Petersen above. Not enough space in and out the boat. Seats were not comfortable for a day tour. The light lunch was served improperly. The staff was very friendly and kind, but not well trained as guides. Would expect more from Guide to Greenland costly tours.

The boat was very small for ten people and not comfortable for a 6 hour trip EQI

Another interesting trip through the floating ice. The observations “decks” fore and aft were too small for all of the people, a bit crowded when we all tried to go out there. Unfortunately, we could not get close at all to the glaciers due to the ice; perhaps the tour would have been more memorable if we had.

En rigtig god tur og nogle gode guides der var velforberedte og havde masser af info som de delte villigt ud af. Eneste minus var en meget pakket båd på tilbagevejen og vejret så dårligt at man ikke kunne være ude ret længe ad gangen.

Had super great day out and will be one of the most memorable experiences ever
Our guides were super knowledgable about the area and gave us lots of good information.
In addition, they are super funny and keep us entertained.
They are also very patient with me (limited experience walking on ice) and gave helpful safety tips throughout

Thie Eqi Glacier day tour is an excellent day trip. Once I had completed Guide to Greenland online booking, I was sent a confirmation email, along with details of where and when the meeting point was, which was very easy to find in Ilulissat. After check in, myself and other passengers were driven in a minibus to board the boat. The boat was big and sturdy with lots of room for everyone and had a well heated main seating area. Two guides were onboard and they were very friendly and provided information about various points along the way, in Danish and English. The guides were always approachable if you wanted to ask a question. The scenery along the way was fantastic and there also comes a point where the ice rated boat was pushing it’s way past smaller icebergs, with lots of clanking noises. This was quite exciting for some of us and definitely worth video recording! The Eqi glacier was beautiful to see and we saw several small calvings, which made thunderous rumbling noises. The boat kept a safe distance from the glacier. Some food was provided, pasta and boiled potatoes as was tea, coffee, water but you can bring your own too. We dropped off some passengers who were staying at the Eqi Lodge and picked up some more returning from the lodge. The boat then set off pushing it’s way through the small icebergs on the way back to Ilulissat. We saw three whales during the day. I would recommend warm clothing with good wind resistance if you want to spend much time out on deck taking photographs etc.
