Family friendly Dogsledding Express tour | Ilulissat

Get the  Greenlandic dogsledding experience with this 45 minutes dogsled tour, departing from Ilulissat! Explore the snow-covered wilderness surrounding Ilulissat, while sitting on the Greenlandic dog sled.

This is a perfect tour for people who just want to get a feeling of what it is like to go dogsledding! Also an excellent choice for families as children from 3 years old are welcome to join this tour.

You will meet the dogs and get an introduction, all experience will take approximately 1,5 hours. You will take a route locally know as Narsarsuaq Kaavillugu, which approximately takes 45 minutes on the sled! 

Your tour begins in the city center where you will meet guide and get a transfer to the dogsled tracks, just outside of town, where you will be met by a local Iluliarmiut (a person from Ilulissat) musher.

Before embarking on this exciting adventure, the musher will introduce you to his dogs. The Greenlandic sled dog is one of a kind, it is the purest dog race, due to its isolation from other dog races – which makes it quite unique. The dogs are raised as work dogs, and therefore it is not safe to approach the dogs on your own. The musher will show which dogs, that are safe to pet.

Once you have gotten comfortable on the sled, the musher will steer the dogs into the backcountry of Ilulissat. Enjoy the pure silence, only disturbed by howling dogs and soaring eagles!
