We went to Nuuk and booked this itinerary for early December and had a great time! We were defeated by the unpredictable weather in winter unfortunately, but the Guide to Greenland team were quick to offer other activities to ensure we were occupied. They took good care of us and we fully recommend this tour for an introduction to Nuuk/Greenland!

We are an Australian couple aged 69 and 85 who undertook the “Winter Adventure Package – Kangerlussuaq and Sisimiut” tour in March 2023. The itinerary and activities were interesting and good fun. Inesa, our travel contact with Guide to Greenland was excellent. Well-organised, flexible and professional, she always provided prompt, friendly and helpful responses to our queries. The tour was well organised via Seria from Tupilak Travel who provided friendly and efficient service. The accommodation was also very good.
Greenland in winter is stunning and it is well worth noting that the tour was entirely “do-able” for people of our age, even with outdoor activities in winter. Greenland was not all that cold (although we are used to travelling in extreme Siberian Russia). You do, however, need quality cold-weather clothing and snow boots. Inesa’s advice to bring “spikes” or cleats with us was invaluable.
Our destinations of Kangerlussuaaq and Sisimiut were both fascinating.
The bus trip to the ice cap was a real highlight of our stay in Kangerlussuaq. Our Hotel Kangerlussuaq room was spacious and well-furnished. But it’s well to know that the hotel is huge, with numerous steep stairs to negotiate with your luggage, and few lifts. There is a cafeteria with average food. It is also worth noting that the up-market Musk Ox Restaurant is often booked out and it is advisable to book well in advance. There is an option to dine at the nearby Roklubben Restaurant at Lokur. A bus is provided to take people to and from the premises. The food was very good and we thoroughly enjoyed our meal there.
Our stay in Sisimiut was extremely well organised by the manager Sisi, from Hotel Sisimiut. The staff could not do enough for us. We thoroughly enjoyed visiting the mountainous backcountry by snowcat and dog sledding with local provider Julia, owner of Greenland Dog Adventure. Our accommodation at the Sisimiut Hotel was excellent; well-appointed and comfortable. The adjoining Nasaasaaq Restaurant which can be reached internally via a “tunnel” from the hotel was very good.
Adding a trip from Kangerlussuaq to Sisimuit was a last-minute decision, and we were very pleased we undertook this tour.
