Arranging the logistics for your trip to Greenland is perhaps not quite as straightforward as for other countries around the world, but it is not that difficult either.

Flights to Greenland

There are no bridges, tunnels, or ferries that connect Greenland with other countries. So, if you are not traveling on a cruise ship, the only way to get here is by flying.

In addition, you can only fly here on either Air Greenland or Air Iceland Connect with a departure point of either Copenhagen (Denmark) or Reykjavik (Iceland). There are no flights from North America or elsewhere in Europe at this stage.

If you are coming to Greenland during Summer – try to find a direct flight to your final destination. There are direct flights from Copenhagen or Reykjavik to Nuuk, Ilulissat, Kangerlussuaq, Narsarsuaq, and Kulusuk at varying frequencies during the summer months.

If you are coming to Greenland during winter – you can fly direct to Nuuk or Kulusuk from Iceland once or twice per week. Otherwise, you will need to fly from Denmark to Kangerlussuaq, and then book another domestic flight to your final destination.

Car rental in Greenland

Driving in Greenland is unlike anywhere else in the world. The longest road runs for about 51kms, there are no roads between towns, and there is no car ferry to transport your vehicle from one place to the next. But that doesn’t mean you should rule out renting a car while you are here.
