Experience Greenland in an authentic way - there is something very special about experiencing Greenland from the perspective of a dog sled. Whizz quietly through the majestic white winter-landscape.

Dog-sledding is an important part of Greenlandic culture and has historically and still is an important means on transportation for the Inuit.

Sisimiut is a good place for dog-sledding. The town has got around 1000 working dogs left, who are owned by both full-time mushers, who combine hunting and fishing with tourist driving, and mushers who have dog-sledding as a hobby. All these owners play a big part in conserving the traditional dog-sledding culture. It is one of these mushers, that will be your driver for your unique experience.

Arriving at the sled, you will be seated as a passenger right behind the dog sled driver, who sits in the front and directs the dogs.

This lovely two hour tour will be an once in a life time experience. Bringing you close to the wilderness and getting a unique taste of the old ways of greenlanders. It is fascinating to experience the how man and dog work together in the nature and to travel in this way without noise from any engine, only the movement of the sled and the many strong, running paws.

The route goes to the foot of the Niujarfik mountain and then climbs up to higher terrain northeast of Sisimiut. Before heading back to the town, there will be a break, where the driver takes care of the sled dogs liner, and you will have the opportunities to take photographs and capture the moments, so you can bring home the memories.

Please note that this tour is not recommended for people with back problems. There are certain distance rules, when being around the dog sled. Keep a good distance from the sled and listen to the instructions from the driver. Please at all times comply with these rules.
