Nuuk is a modern city with a mix of traditional and modern ways of living. You’ll meet a modern Inuit society in the shape of artworks, gastronomy and of course the locals. Nearby Nuuk you’ll find the 2. Largest fjord system in the world and it is full of beautiful surroundings. There are many activities all year round with great possibilities to catch fish.

You can’t find roads between towns in Greenland, therefore most traffic is by boat, ship and by flight. A very popular way of getting around among the locals is the coastline ferry, Sarfaq Ittuk, which sails from South Greenland to Disko Bay in the north. You’ll have the opportunity to experience part of this journey along the coast of Greenland, from Nuuk to Ilulissat with the locals.

You can say that Ilulissat is the capital of the Disko Bay area, but more importantly, it is well known as the capital of ice. About 4.500 people live here, most make a living from fishing, that’s why it’s easy to find fresh local fish in the town and in the restaurants. In Greenlandic Ilulissat means “icebergs” and you’ll be quick to discover how well the name fits the place, as you’ll see enormous icebergs and calving glaciers!

When you walk through the city you’ll get to see the Arctic sleddogs which only live in the northern part of Greenland.

From Ilulissat is it possible to see the Disko Island Qeqertarsuaq. On the tour, you’ll also get to visit the fantastic and only city of Disko Island: Qeqertarsuaq, which is about a 100 km away from Ilulissat. Qeqertarsuaq is definitely an ideal place to go on hikes in the beautiful and unique terrain. You can go dogsledding here all year round, yes even in the summer.
