Glacier Landing by Helicopter | Qaqortoq | South Greenland
Land directly on top of an otherwise inaccessible glacier in this scenic helicopter adventure from Qaqortoq.
Taking off from the Qaqortoq helipad, we will fly over the fjords and mountains of South Greenland en route to our remote landing place. Keep an eye out for icebergs, fishermen, sheep farms and small settlements from your birds eye view of this relatively lush part of Greenland.
Once we reach Qalerallit (an area with several calving glaciers), we will hover in front of one of the massive ice walls before climbing up to land directly on top of the glacier. Here you will have the chance to walk on the ice itself (part of the world’s 2nd largest Ice Sheet) while your pilot explains how the glacier and the landscape has changed over recent years. Enjoy thousands of years old water complete with ice cubes you chip directly off the glacier as you enjoy the silence of this remote location that can only be reached in this manner.
