Your adventure begins with a scenic boat ride from Ilulissat, where you will glide past towering icebergs at the mouth of the UNESCO-listed Icefjord. Keep an eye out for whales navigating the nutrient-rich waters. As you approach Ilimanaq, you will spot the De Luxe Bungalows, perched on a cliff overlooking Disko Bay – your home for the night. It is a perfect overnight stay with a sea view where whales and icebergs are often guests.

These modern, eco-friendly, solar-powered cabins offer private bathrooms, floor-to-ceiling windows, and individual balconies with uninterrupted views of the water. Your stay includes breakfast, lunch, and dinner at the gourmet Restaurant Egede, located in a beautifully restored 1741 colonial building. Savor dishes like freshly caught Arctic char and Greenlandic lamb, crafted with local ingredients and modern techniques, all in an atmosphere rich with history.

During your visit, you can join the guided 4 hours guided Tundra hike. We will hike through the Arctic tundra and enjoy the views of Icebargs and Disko bay. If we are lucky we will have a chance to spot arctic foxes, snow hares or even a musk ox.

The tundra hike is guided every day starting at 10:00 in the morning (If you go on the Tundra hike, you will have a sandwich for lunch).

The rest of the time is yours to enjoy at your own pace. You can choose to hike through the surrounding landscape, or simply unwind on your private balcony watching local fishermen in their small boats, marveling at the icebergs, and trying to spot passing humpback whales.

Additional Information

• Pack layered clothing to stay comfortable in changing conditions. Ideally, include a thermal underwear layer (top and bottom), an activity layer (such as hiking pants and a shirt), an insulation layer (like a fleece or down jacket), and a windproof outer layer (top and bottom). While you may not need all layers every day, it is important to have them on hand. Always bring a windproof jacket, regardless of the weather. Keep in mind, that it is often colder at sea than on land, and the wind from the boat’s movement can make it feel even chillier.

Package tours can be sold out more than half a year in advance (note that Guide to Greenland does not include international flights in packages, except where indicated from Iceland or Denmark).

Day trips may sell out closer to your arrival date, but for popular destinations, certain dates/times can also sell out months in advance. We recommend that you secure all of your experiences by booking them well in advance of your trip.
