The settlement used to be an American Airbase going by the name DYE 4, established in 1956. Traces of the Us Military is visible following the road going behind the airport to the end, where the building of an old radio station on top of the mountain. A stunning 360 degree view can be seen from here, almost being able to see Tasiilaq town. Kulusuk is located on a small rocky island situated in the Ammassalik area, surrounded by jagged and high mountains with view to pack ice as far as the eye can see.

Day 1 - Kulusuk
You will depart from Reykjavik Domestic Airport to Kulusuk, for approximately 2-hour flight. You will be greeted at the airport by your local guide, and taken to your accommodation. Hotel Kulusuk is situated within walking distance of the airport. Shortly followed with a walking tour of Kulusuk, in which you will be taken through the settlement. The walk into Kulusuk settlement takes about 20 minutes.
After the walking tour the rest of the day is at your leisure. Go to the reception at the hotel and ask for optional tours, like Apusiajik Glacier, a 1½ hour boat cruise among icebergs and breath taking landscape. Or a drive up to DYE Four, an abandoned radio station from world war 2, a beautiful viewpoint over the sea and nearby mountain peaks.
Day 2 - Departure Day
After breakfast it’s time to pack your luggage and head back to Kulusuk getting the last glimpse of the arctic landscape.
A last chance to do the last minute souvenir shopping in the airport tax free shop. Time to say goodbye to Greenland and head back to Iceland, hopefully leaving with many great memories and pictures to look back on.
