Kapisillit Settlement Tour | Nuuk

Come along on this adventure, exploring the veins of Nuuk fjord and a remote settlement, far from civilization.

Sailing through the Qoornoq passage, will lead to the remote fishing and hunting settlement, Kapisillit. A place where the forces of nature are dominating and the pace of modern society, is non excisiting.

The settlement was founded in 1927, by two brothers. Due to its rich seas, the settlement grew to 61 inhabitants and has since endured prosperity and adversity. The settlement, is a great escape from the city life and an insight to how Greenland is outside the capital.

When traveling to your destination, you will be among majestic mountains, waterfalls and the arctic wild life. Before sailing through the Qoornoq passage, you will from a distance hear a boisterous sound. You will be enchanted to explore more, and here you will find the stunningly beautiful waterfall of Sermitsiaq. Surrounded by all sorts of flying life, while you enjoy the sight of the waterfall, you will feel small pebbles of water on your face. Take in the experience, because there is more to explore!

Through the Qoornoq passage, you will be met with icebergs floating from the Narsap Sermia glacier, in white and blue nuances. It is a surreal experience, moving between the icebergs, as the sea is packed with frozen bodies of water.

When visiting the settlement, explore the towns nature! Kapisillit is named after the salmon, because it holds the only salmon spawning river in Greenland. The settlement is also often visited by polar bears and holds huge plain for hares and birds, where the opportunity to explore herbs is present. If you are culture minded, looking to explore traditional and old methods of processing food, visit the old drying racks or get involved in the process! It is also possible to Hike to the nearby ice fjord.

A bay packed with astonishing ice azures, is what to explore in the deep of Kapisillit!
