3-Day Winter Journey into Ilulissat’s Backcountry | West Greenland

Join us for a three-day winter adventure in the heart of Disko Bay, where remote landscapes, Arctic traditions, and quiet moments come together. From Ilulissat, you travel by snowmobile into the backcountry and settle into a cozy cabin with sweeping views of the UNESCO-listed Icefjord. The cabin becomes your base – a warm retreat surrounded by wilderness, silence, and northern lights!

Over the following days, you will experience Greenlandic winter life in its most authentic form. Ride behind a team of eager sled dogs across the frozen fjord, try your hand at ice fishing alongside local fishermen, and enjoy meals prepared from the day’s fresh catch. Between activities, there is time to relax in the cabin, venture out on snowshoes, or simply watch the shifting light over the ice.

This tour combines the thrill of classic Arctic activities with the comfort of full board and cabin accommodation. It is both an adventure and a pause – a chance to feel the rhythm of Greenland’s winter while being well taken care of.

• The route may change depending on weather and snow conditions.
• Snowmobiles and dog sleds are shared two by two. If you travel alone, you may be asked to share with another participant.
• The tour is not recommended if you have neck or back problems.
• Participants must be at least 12 years old. Guests under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
• A valid driver’s license is required to operate the snowmobile.
• We provide a warm outer suit and helmet (we recommend wearing at least two layers underneath).
• Please bring your own warm gloves, hat, and boots.

Package tours can be sold out more than half a year in advance (note that Guide to Greenland does not include international flights in packages, except where indicated from Iceland or Denmark).

Day trips may sell out closer to your arrival date, but for popular destinations, certain dates/times can also sell out months in advance. We recommend that you secure all of your experiences by booking them well in advance of your trip.
