Kick off your Greenlandic adventure upon arrival in Kangerlussuaq with a morning check-in (normally, arrival is before 10 am) at the comfortable Hotel Kangerlussuaq, nestled inside the airport, offering scenic mountain vistas and a warm welcome.
Post check-in, dive into the wild with a thrilling 1.5-hour tundra safari. Explore the untouched Arctic landscapes in a 4WD bus with panoramic views, seeking out the majestic musk oxen, known locally as Umimmak ('long-bearded one'), and the impressive herds of reindeer. Keep an eye out for polar foxes, Arctic hares, and soaring eagles. With a bit of luck, you will get up close with these incredible creatures, capturing unforgettable moments and photographs.
After the safari, enjoy a refreshing sandwich lunch, then gear up for an exhilarating guided hike to a stunning local waterfall. Traverse the unique sand valleys and tundra, scaling hilltops to behold the expansive arctic beauty, and possibly spotting more wildlife like reeinder. Day 2
Journey to Point 660 and the Russell Glacier
Start your day with breakfast at the hotel before enjoying some leisure time to explore the surroundings of Kangerlussuaq. Refuel with a complimentary sandwich at lunch before embarking on a remarkable tour to Point 660, a location recently revealed by retreating ice and visited by a few.
This journey begins as you and your fellow explorers travel along a remote dirt road, showcasing Kangerlussuaq's unique inland climate along a long fjord. Keep your eyes peeled during the drive – you might spot some of the area's diverse wildlife. There will be a chance for a brief stop to capture the breathtaking landscape with your camera.
Upon arriving at Point 660, take a moment to breathe in the crisp air and admire the stunning view of the Greenland Icecap, which stretches endlessly into the horizon. The dirt road leads directly to the edge of the majestic inland ice, offering a rare opportunity to step onto the ice and explore it firsthand.
Traveling in a comfortable 4x4 with our knowledgeable local guide, you will not only enjoy the incredible views but also learn about Greenlandic culture and the local way of life.
The day's adventure continues with a visit to the magnificent Russell Glacier, another highlight of Greenland’s natural beauty. After a day filled with exploration, return to the hotel where a delicious two-course meal awaits, rounding off another perfect day in Greenland.
Day 3
Glacier views and Greenlandic culinary delights
Start your day with a delightful breakfast at the hotel, setting the stage for another extraordinary adventure – this time returning to the majestic Russell Glacier, but for a traditional Greenlandic BBQ!
Your journey to the glacier will be in a comfortable 4WD vehicle, perfectly suited for navigating the rugged Arctic terrain. As you travel, enjoy panoramic views of the Arctic tundra, desert-like valleys, and semi-barren plains. Keep an eye out for wildlife, including musk oxen, reindeer, arctic hares, and perhaps even the elusive polar fox.
Upon reaching Russell Glacier, indulge in a barbecue lunch featuring local Greenlandic delicacies, all set against the stunning backdrop of the glacier's immense ice wall. During the Arctic summer's constant sunlight, you might witness the awe-inspiring sight of ice calving, producing sounds like distant thunder, adding to the dramatic atmosphere.
This memorable excursion lasts about five hours, after which you'll return to Kangerlussuaq with time to unwind at your hotel.
In the evening, a bus will take you to Restaurant Roklubben, situated by a tranquil lake, where you will conclude your day with a sumptuous Greenlandic buffet. Savor freshly caught shrimp, delicate halibut, tender musk ox, and savory reindeer. Dinner is included, and drinks are available for purchase.

What to bring
Sturdy hiking boots
Min. 30-40 liters backpack with hip belt (can be rented in the booking process)
Layered clothing. Ideally, you should pack a thermal underwear layer (top and bottom), an activity layer (e.g. hiking pants and shirt), an insulation layer (e.g. fleece or down jacket), and an outer layer of windproof clothing (top and bottom). You may need all of this on any particular day, but you should have it available. You should always bring a windproof jacket, regardless of the weather.

Optional: Hiking poles may help you on the hike up the moraine and while on the ice
Additional Information
Be aware that the glacial moraine and the surface of the ice can be slippery and uneven. While this is not usually an issue for most people, if you have any concerns, perhaps bring hiking poles and spikes for your shoes.
It is a good idea to bring your own snacks on some of the tours so you do not get hungry.

Day trips may sell out closer to your arrival date, but for popular destinations, certain dates/times can also sell out months in advance. We recommend that you secure all of your experiences by booking them well in advance of your trip.
