Iceberg cruise & Ice cave exploring | Tasiilaq | East Greenland
Go on the ultimate ice tour, sailing by giant icebergs and exploring a huge blue ice-cave! This tour starts from the Tasiilaq harbour then goes towards Kulusuk through the Kong Oscars Fjord, on our way we will pass big icebergs, and slow down to appreciate just how truly massive these blocks of ice can be. We might even be lucky enough to see a few whales on the way, as humpbacks, minkes and fin whales are common in the area. We'll sail for about an hour to get to the Aputsiaq Glacier, once we reach the glacier we'll get off the boat and start our trip walking on the glacier up to where we can enter the blue ice-cave. The guide taking us on this tour is a certified glacier guide and will make sure everyone is as safe as possible. We'll have a brief safety instruction and then start walking up to the cave. It takes about 20 minutes walking on the glacier to reach the cave. The cave is unlike anything you've ever seen, it almost feels like you're entering a portal to the ice planet of Hoth(reference to a star wars movie). The ice cave is approx. 40 meters deep, so there is plenty of room to explore it, before it's time to head back to Tasiilaq.
