Information about Apussuit Glacer

Apussuit is a skiing centre on top of a glacier, about 25 km east from Maniitsoq. Apussuit means ‘the big snow’ in West Greenlandic.

Apussuit has snow all year round, which means you can ski there in wintertime as well as in the summertime. It is a paradise for skiers/heliskiers, cross country skiers, snowmobile enthusiasts and just adventurers in general.

The skiing centre was closed for many years after a robbery in 2009 left it economically unstable, however, it reopened in April 2018. Even though the skiing centre and the huts were closed, there has always been skiing/ heli-skiing tours in Apussuit. It is one of the most popular skiing places in Greenland.
