Nuuk The Worlds Smallest Capital

Today you will venture deep into the veins of Nuuk fjord on open boat, with the mission of reaching the bottom of Nuup Kangerlua. The bottom of Nuup Kangerlua hides an arctic treasure – the majestic glacier Narsap Sermia. Narsap Sermia is surrounded by massive blue and white nuanced ice azures, that will take your breath away.

You will be travelling under the arctic sky in passages circumscribed by sky high mountains tins, accompanied by humpback whales playing hide and seek between the waves.

Near the Narsap Sermia glacier, you will go a shore and hike for 45 minutes on a rather flat arctic tundra. This is not a strenuous hike and is taken at a slow and easy pace. The oldest person who did this hike in 2012 was 73 years old, so put your mind at ease that you won’t be scaling sheer cliff faces! You will be rewarded by a fantastic view over the ice fiord of Nuuk. Within the fiord you will be able to view the amazing ice floes as far as the eye can see. The view is spectacular, with the white colour against the turquoise sea creating a visual memory you will never forget.

When you have completed your hike, the tour goes to Kapisillit. Kapisillit is a hunting and fishing village, that was established by 2 brothers in the start of the 1900. Since the settlement has endured prosperity and adversity. Here you will spend an hour at a local Greenlandic family and be attending the cultural celebration – Kaffemik. Coffe and home backed cakes are offered at the local home.

You return the same way you came, as the West Greenlandic nature never stops to impress.

Perhaps a whale will raise its tail like a friendly greeting or a cheeky seal will survey you curiously from the water or whilst it lounges on the shore.

After an hour of sailing the neighboring seas of Nuuk, you will arrive in Qooqqut Bay. Here you will fish for trout and acadian redfish, in front of a stunning waterfall, with pebbles flying in all directions. Once you and your fellow explorers are done with fishing, you will go a shore the abandoned settlement, that will host you for an evening feast. However, before the fish is delivered to the chef you will need to chop it up in preparation for use. Our guide will show you how to do this and you can take pride in the fact that not only are you eating your own catch but you have learned a valuable preparation skill in the process.

Before your evening feast, take the time to hike the steep mountain sides, explore the norse ruins or pick clams in the orange rays of the arctic midnight sun.
