Hop on board on an adventure and explore an abandoned village in Nuuk's fjord system combined with a stunning nature experience that you’ll never forget!

There are hundreds of abandoned settlements throughout the Greenlandic coast, but because they have such good locations, many of the abandoned villages are not completely abandoned - the Greenlanders come there and build their summer houses which they visit during the summer. Many of the Greenlanders highlights in the summer are for sure to be out in nature, often in a place just like this. You’ll have the opportunity to see such a place inside the Nuuk fjord system, the name of it is, Qoornoq.

Qoornoq is isolated in the fjord, and because of a glacier deeper in the fjord, you can see small and large icebergs just in front of the village. During the weekends, people of all ages enjoy staying in Qoornoq, with nothing but nature and the silence surrounding them.

Bring your own food and make your lunch from the grill in Kang Tourism's house with the view of most of the village and the fjord. You can take a walk through the past and present memories of the abandoned countryside and hear about the exciting history behind, see for example the former fish factory and their charming church with a small museum.

You’ll quickly find out why this place is so popular as a destination in the summer. You’ll be welcomed by a skipper and delivered a survival suit so you can keep warm because even if you sail on a hot and sunny summer day, it can get cold in an open boat that’s sailing fast. Prepare lunch, put on some warm clothes and experience the fjord's unique side.
