Day 1

Arrival day at Ilulissat

Today your adventure begins! Check-in at Keflavik international airport for the flight to Ilulissat is at least 2 hr before departure.

You will be traveling high above the icecap of Greenland and the sky-high Greenlandic mountain tins, on your journey to Ilulissat.

After arrival, you will be transferred to your hotel accommodation, where you will stay all 7 nights.

We will finish the day with dinner at the hotel! Please note drinks are not included.

Baggage included: 20 kilos of checked baggage and 8 kilos of cabin baggage (max. dimensions of cabin baggage: 55 x 40 x 23 cm).

Day 2

City tour & Evening Sailing among the icebergs

City walk tour (2-hour boat tour)

A good start of your time in Ilulissat is getting familiar with the city. Today you will join a city walk. Ilulissat was founded in 1741 and, today, it is the third-largest town in Greenland with more than 4,500 inhabitants. Follow the guide to learn more about the Greenlandic culture and history.

Sailing to Ilulissat Icefjord (2.5-hour boat tour)

For your evening adventure – you will be sailing in the orange rays of midnight sun in the UNESCO World Heritage site, Ilulissat Icefjord. This an exceptional experience you do not want to miss out while visiting Ilulissat. During the year, more than 46 km3 of ice flows into the fiord. The result is gigantic icebergs, which can be more than 100 metres on each side and with a height on more than 100 metres above the water surface. These giants strand at the end of the fiord, and that gives a good opportunity to sail among them. This boat trip at bright night is definitely an extraordinary experience!

Day 3

We will start our day with free time. Take your time and explore the city, visit to the local museums, the Icefjord Center, and the church. The museum is located in the house once owned by the polar explorer Knud Rasmussen, and the church will enchant you with its beautiful interior.

Optional Excursion (purchased separately, duration 5 hours)

You can also join an optional excursion by boat to the settlement of Oqaatsut. This tour will start with a short boat transfer 20km (12 miles) north of Ilulissat. The guide will introduce you to the settlement; you will visit the church, school, and small fishing factory. The guided walk will end at Restaurant H8, where you will have lunch prepared with local ingredients.

Day 4

Hiking to the old settlement of Sermermiut (2 hours )

We are going to explore the inuit lands of Sermermiut valley. Sermermiut have been inhabited by different inuit cultures for 4000 years, and today you can still find artefacts of the vanished ages. You will on first hand witness the presence of their existence! Hear the story about the life and the customs of the Greenlanders before the Europeans´ arrival.

You can also choose to book additional excursions with a Helicopter!

Ilulissat Ice Fjord and the Kangia Glacier are in focus on a 1½ hours helicopter ride that takes you right into the heart of a UNESCO World Heritage Site. No boat or hiking trail can get this close to the huge glacier – and you will see it all from above!

Day 5

Day tour to calving Eqi glacier

You wont find a place as beautiful as Ilulissat. Wonders of the arctic, such as Ilulissat icefjord is not the only to be found. Your adventure of the day, takes you to the Glacier, Eqi.

From the morning You will be traveling in a modern and convenient tourist boat, with a heated salon and an outdoor deck with a toilet on board.

Your journey will take you through the west Greenlandic nature, in the presence of icebergs making their way into the Atlantic Ocean! Be on the watch for the Great Greenland whale, playing hide and seek between the waves. When nearing the glacier, lunch will be served with a nice view overlooking the glacier from a distance. You will stay 2-hour stay in front of the glacier on board!

You will be staying in front of the glacier for 2 hours so you will have a great chance to see the glacier calving! It is a "MUST DO" tour while you are visiting Ilulissat in the summer.

Depending on the boat that will be used today it will be 6-12 hours tour. You will come back full of amazing memories and pictures!

Day 6

Free day or kayaking evening

We will start our day with free time. Take your time and explore the city, visit to the local museums and church. The museum is located in the house, once owned by the polar explorer Knud Rasmussen and the church will enchant you with its beautiful interior.

An additional excursion can be purchased: Kayaking evening

Did you know that the Inuit invented the kayak? That is one of many reasons why this tour is a must-do experience in Ilulissat. Imagine paddling among the icebergs in beautiful Arctic light. No previous experience is needed; you will be kayaking in double kayaks that are stable on the water. Your internationally approved kayak instructor will help you all the way. If you have any serious back pain or shoulder problems, you will not be able to partake in this excursion. This is for your own safety.

Day 7

Whale safari!

You won't find a place as beautiful as Ilulissat.

Today, enjoy Whale watching in Ilulissat! It is a great experience to get really close to large animals like whales. It is 3-hour boat tour enjoying the views and looking for whales.

Day 8

Departure day

The trip is 8 days but you will depart with a flight to Iceland. You will get a shuttle from your hotel to the airport.
