Explore the remains and ruins of the Thule Inuits in the area of Qilakitsoq on this 3-hour private charter boat tour!
In Qilakitsoq, Greenlands most significant cultural discoveries were made! 8 well preserved 500-year-old mummies were found in this area that you will be visiting. Today the mummies reside in the National Museum of Greenland, in Nuuk. These mummies brought great insights into the way of life back then, especially to the clothing and tools. But it is not long ago Qilaktisoq was inhabited by the Inuits (1800), and therefore, there are still remains and ruins to be admired.
From Uummanaq the tour goes to the North of the Nuussuaq Peninsula, where you will go to land. Qilakitsoq is not only known for the mummies, but also for its unspoiled surroundings of steep cliffs and tundra. Please be aware of the cultural significance of this place and treat it with respect as you would any other cemetery. Do not touch or move any relicts you might come across. Please note that the price is for chartering the whole boat for this excursion.
