Enjoy the wide-open spaces of the Greenlandic nature on this three to ten-day staycation in Sassannguit, outside Sisimiut! You will be enjoying the spectacular scenery of the North Greenlandic nature and fish in Sassannguit's boisterous river, from our luxurious tent camp.
A weekend in the wild, far from civilization with the only disturbance from reindeer and muskoxen - is to be experienced, on this city escape.
Sassannguit is located 1,5 to 2 hours outside Sisimiut by boat. The area is known for its spectacular valley landscape of Arctic tundra, towering mountains and a large river with breeding Arctic Char. Due to the Sassannguit rich fauna and river, the area has been used as a recreational area for hunting and fishing by the camp's host and his ancestors for centuries.
The surrounding landscape does not only offer great conditions for fishing, but also hiking and herb-picking. The mountains circumscribing the valley are covered in moss and seasonal herbs and berries.
During your stay at our camp, you will be accommodated in one of our large tent's, equipped with a bed, and with room for gear and luggage.

Arriving in Sassannguit
Your multi-day outdoor adventure starts by Sisimiut Harbour, where you will be welcomed aboard by our highly skilled captain.
Once you are aboard and the boat is packed with the tour's necessities and supplies, we will set the course towards Sassannguit. Sassannguit is located 1,5 to 2 hours from Sisimiut, by boat. En route, there are great chances for spotting wildlife, such as seals, whales and auks.
Upon arrival, the captain will help you and your co-travellers ashore.
Settle in, and get unpacked. Dinner can be prepared in the camp's cabin.
Fish, hike or relax
The day is yours to create, the possibilities are endless for outdoor activities.
Fish in the large river of Sassannguit for Arctic charr and trout, or take a small hike down to the coastline to fish for Acadian redfish, wolffish and long-spined cottus.
Hike the surrounding mountain landscape or go further inland to explore what the climate around the Arctic circle has to offer.
It also possible just to stay back at camp to relax and enjoy the peace and quietness.
As you are in nature, there is always the possibility to pick berries and herbs for Greenlandic tea and desserts.
