Day 1
Nuuk Bound
Your first day. You arrive in Greenland, pick up your luggage and meet us out front for transfer to Hotel Seamen’s Home Nuuk.
Once you are settled in, you can explore the urban life of the small, but vibrant capital. Join an optional city walk and visit some of Nuuk city’s cultural and historic sites. Or uncover Nuuk’s sheer wealth of restaurants, and small shops. Head through the main shopping street to stop by the local shops for souvenirs and pay a visit to the northern light-shaped culture house. End your day by Nuuk Center – for a cup of coffee and other shopping opportunities.
Day 2
Icebergs, Waterfalls & Wildlife
Your second day in Greenland brings you to sea. On this classic Greenlandic experience, you will have the opportunity to see some of Nuuk Fjord’s most spectacular sites on a Nuuk Fjord Discovery.
You will need to go to the harbour, where you will be welcomed aboard a fully closed cabin boat. After everything is set, you will sail out of the harbour and head into the fjord. You will sail through the beautiful fjord entrance with Nuuk’s colourful wooden houses on the right and the Akia mountain landscape on the left.
Nuuk Fjord is a wonder of the Arctic and a must-see experience while in Greenland. Lush mountainsides, waterfalls, towering mountain peaks, icebergs, and wildlife of all sorts are what you will be experiencing on this tour. You will sail around the spectacular Sermitsiaq Island, northeast of Nuuk. The island is the home of a saddle-shaped mountain that is about 1200 meters tall, and all sorts of birds. While sailing around, you can enjoy views of steep mountainsides, circumscribing the fjord passages. It is not uncommon that an iceberg or two drifts by or a humpback whale comes up and waves its fin to gasp for air. To top of the tour, you will be stopping by the large meltwater waterfall, Sermitsiaq. On top of Sermitsiaq, is a large glacier, parts of which melts during the summer months – creating a beautiful waterfall, tumbling down the side of the mountain.
Day 3
Dinning in the Greenlandic Wilderness
The day is at your leisure, as you don’t have anything planned before 3 o’clock.
Nuuk is known for its incredible hiker’s paradise, located just 15 minutes outside of the city centre. We, therefore, recommend that you join an optional guided hike to the mountain ridge, Quassusuaq.
By the afternoon, you’ll once again board one of our fully closed cabin boats for a culinary adventure in Nuuk Fjord. You’ll venture out on a 50-minute boat ride into Qooqqut Bay, where you will be fishing at a local spot in truly unique surroundings. Besides being full of Acadian Red Fish and Trout, Qooqqut Bay is one of the most astonishing sceneries in all of Nuuk – steep mountains, rivers, waterfalls, and endless tundra rising into the backcountry.
Should you be blessed by mother nature with a fish on the hooks, you can hand in your catch at the restaurant, and let the chefs prepare your fish for dinner. You will be dining in the 4-star restaurant Qooqqut Nuan, where you can enjoy a Thai-themed menu. Enjoy the view of the immense mountain landscape from the restaurant, while dining in good company.
As you return to the city, enjoy the spectacular fjord landscapes. You will be surprised by the power of Arctic sunset, as you can still enjoy the immense nature covered in an orange and red carpet of sunshine. Unless it is cloudy of course.
Day 4
Time For Optional Adventures In The Arctic
Your last day in Greenland can be spent however you want. Book an optional tour to a place of your interest! We suggest that you visit Nuuk Icefjord – one of Nuuk Fjords most spectacular sceneries. You will travel to the bottom of Nuuk Fjord and enter the Icefjord. As you approach the Icefjord the fjord passages get dotted with white icebergs of all sizes. Navigating between the blocks of ice is a surreal experience, almost otherworldly. Once you enter the Icefjord, there are icebergs as far as the eye can see. The number of icebergs sometimes hinder us from seeing the Narsap Sermia glacier - the glacier from which the icebergs originates.
Another fun possibility is to paddle in Nuuk fjord among mountains and whales on a stand-up paddleboard. With a local captain, you will head out of town by boat. Depending on the current, weather and waves, you will be trying to paddleboard in spectacular scenery.
Day 5
Continue up the coast for more of Greenland
Your 5th day in Greenland marks the end of your stay in Nuuk. We bid you farewell at the airport for your flight departure to wherever you are heading next.
We suggest that you continue your travel up the coast to Ilulissat, Sisimiut or Aasiaat for another week of exploring Greenland.
