I did this trip in August/Sept 2022. (my trip was originally scheduled for 2020 but was canceled during the pandemic with the closure of Greenland). It was a truly wonderful experience. Lars was a friendly, welcoming guide. He is extremely knowledgeable and very competent. We stayed in a comfortable house that was well located in Tasiilaq. There were 8 of us in total including myself. Our meals were prepared for us and served communal style. The food was excellent and our cook, Knud, was very accommodating. We had some bad weather for a few days….weather that made it impossible to follow the itinerary due to dangerous conditions on the water. Lars found other options for us and, when the weather broke, he made sure to pack in as much as possible to cover most of the sights listed in the itinerary. I highly recommend this trip as it provides a real taste of East Greenland, a stunningly beautiful and unspoiled part of the world with its friendly Inuit population. I would do this trip all over again in a heartbeat.

It was a special experience. The main transportation for us was dogsledding (our luggage was on snowmobile). The itinerary depended on the weather. We were stuck in a village for 3 days due to snowstorms. It’s not a complaint because we just experienced the local lifestyle.

We had such a memorable day! The Austrian guide was excellent – both friendly and knowledgeable. We visited two remote settlements and saw the jaw dropping Sermilik fjord with the vast icebergs around Tineteqilaaq.
We also went to the abandoned village of Ikatek. A great day out covering a varied and wide area of eastern Greenland. Just loved it.
