Best Of Nuuk Fjord | Nuuk

This adventure by boat takes you to the stunning waterfall of Sermitsiaq, the abandoned settlement Qoornoq and Bear Island. Combining sailing and Nuuk fjord, always make for great adventure. This is an aventure for you, who adore the arctic – from the peaky mountain tins to the savage and salty waters! As soon as the boat leaves Nuuk, you realize how infinite the Greenlandic nature is. The sailing trip lasts 5 hours with many opportunities for beautiful pictures of wilder, wonderful and vast Greenland. From a far distance you will hear a boisterous sound, that will enchant you to explore what the mountain side of Sermitsiaq hides. When arriving at the source of the boisterous sound, you will be overwhelmed by the stunning waterfall, that steeply slides down. Let the water pebbles touch your cheeks and let yourself be amazed by this unique and rare sight. Next stop of the day, will take you to the bird cliff on bear island. Do not be fooled by the name, as it is only wild birdlife that resides the island. Listen to the mesmerizing calls of the arctic birds, as you explore! The final destination of the day, takes you to the abandoned settlement of Qoornoq. Walking in the deserted settlement takes you back in the history of Greenland, to a time when people were almost self-sufficient from nature. Although some of the houses today are renewed and used as summer cottages, one can easily sense how amazing the place was, when it was full of life in the 1900. Behind Qoornoq you will find the original water supply, and the old railways from the former fishing factory. At that time, tons of dried fish were produced here, mostly by manpower. The old beautiful church and its decor are certainly worth a visit. The same goes for the ancient churchyard, and you must remember that the place must be treated with great respect. Pull on your warmest hat and bring your binoculars for this adventure! Check the booking availability by pressing ''Choose a date'' above.

Stand Up Paddleboarding amongst the Icebergs | Nuuk | West Greenland

Travel the length of the spectacular Nuuk Fjord for a unique experience of stand up paddleboarding (SUP) amongst thousands of icebergs. No previous experience necessary! Our journey begins with us sailing as far as possible up the world’s second-largest fjord system - the Nuuk Fjord. Although we travel in a closed and heated boat, you will want to dress warmly so that you can spend as much time as possible out on deck for the best views of the spectacular, steep mountains that line our route. It will take us about 2-3 hours to reach the Icefjord where thousands of icebergs are cast off from several glaciers to begin their journey to the ocean. Here we will gear up with drysuits, life jackets and communication gear to ensure everyone is warm and safe, and give an introduction to paddleboarding for those who are new to the experience. Once on the boards, we will paddle between the icebergs for around 2 hours, exploring this surreal watery landscape choked with floating ice. The silence of the area is broken only by the sounds of us paddling and the cracking of the ice surrounding us - a welcome respite from the busy lives most of us lead. If you fall off your board - no worries! You’ve just added a “polar plunge” to the experiences you’ve ticked off in Greenland! Your drysuit will keep you warm and dry, and the board is easy to get back onto. The boat crew also stays very close to help you if needed. Reserve your place on this unique stand up paddleboarding experience by selecting your date of travel and clicking on Book Now. Note: there is no age minimum. However, participants must be taller than 125cm due to the sizes of drysuits available. It is not possible to do this excursion without a drysuit.
